Ask HN: How much ad revenue you make from your side project?
I try to understand if it's still good business idea for simple web apps . from your experience is it ?
can you give examples and numbers ?
thanks
- admissionsguy 3y ago$400 / mo at 40-50,000 monthly UU. It's not a web app, just static website with lots of data.
- umen 3y agoin what field ?
- admissionsguy 3y agocollege applicants
- caspg 3y agoHow do you make money? Google Ads?
- admissionsguy 3y agoOne of the many monetisation networks alternative to Adsense, though I imagine much of the inventory comes from Google in any case.
- fullstick 3y ago$0. My side projects are for me first and I want to provide ad free experiences for those who happen to use them. Be the change you want to see.
- toader 3y agoI'm sure your users appreciate that. How does your change you want to see ideology align with news outlets or other 'free' but funded by advertising services?
- whatamidoingyo 3y agoI've disabled adsense because it brings in like $0.60/wk. When I first got approved, it was like $8.00/day, but that slowly died down. Not sure why exactly. Adsense revenue isn't worth slowing down a site and angering users. I think it might be worth it if you had a few projects all running Adsense, like 10 sites, or something. Correct me if I'm wrong?
- Invertigrate 3y agoMost ads load asynchronously now so it won't really slow the site down. As for your revenue, it depends a lot on your traffic and where it's from.
