It helps when all of these conspiracy theories get proved true day after day.
So, there's that.
The real question is, why are people so close minded and sure of their world view not to believe in conspiracy theories.
- throwaway8877 3y agoThe problem is not that some of the suspicions of wrongdoing turn to be true, the problem is believing something that is clearly utter nonsense and has been debunked constantly. Even worse, many of these are pushed by malicious state actors.
- drekipus 3y agoI just heard a good podcast on this last night by Ezra Klein (NY Times) with guest C.T Nguyen. Even the utterly nonsense can become a way to simplify the world and hold it all in your head, like a videogame. The attraction comes not from the plausibility of it but rather, the simplicity after a few challenging obstacles of understanding. IE: flat earth become a rather easy way to simplify global politics and ruling classes. It's not obviously absurd, as there's a few steps in reaching this "enlightenment"
- 2OEH8eoCRo0 3y agoAll of them? How many unfounded ideas are you exposed to daily? They're all true? If I had to guess I think that they're almost never proven true.
