Adblockers are breaking TOS. It was not a big problem so far, but Google may eventually lock down the platform. I really hope in some sort of long-term comprom

Adblockers are breaking TOS. It was not a big problem so far, but Google may eventually lock down the platform.
I really hope in some sort of long-term compromise, where adblockers are slightly disadvantaged (slower speed, lower resolution), but can still access YouTube without any login or obstacles.
Look what happened to Facebook, twitter...
- frereubu 3y agoCan you point to the clause in YouTube's TOS that state this? I've heard people claim this before, but a search in https://www.youtube.com/static?gl=GB&template=terms https://www.youtube.com/static?gl=GB&template=terms for "block" shows nothing.
- ta1243 3y agoI suspect "circumvent, disable, fraudulently engage, or otherwise interfere with the Service" may apply.
- b112 3y agoIt's likely not in the tos, because why would it need to be? If someone doesn't want you on their site, and you haven't paid, they have zero obligation to let you stay. tos aren't binding, they're just a list of things people think you should know.
- LocalH 3y agoI wish we could prohibit most forms of advertising. I find them quite ableist, and thus discriminatory.
