I have to agree totally with the propaganda and electioneering angle of some aspects news. But it does feel like there is a lot of "content" that isn't there for that reason and is just included as part of the news for the purpose of distraction. Maybe there's a question of what section of the newspaper/site we are looking at and the type of story in it.
