Looking through other server software[1], I totally agree that the majority of servers require JavaScript. However, there are a few that don't, such as Smithereen[2]. Picking a random Smithereen instance[3] lets us mirror the content without JavaScript (although it still doesn't seem to like being viewed through w3m). So, I think there's potential, but it's definitely not ideal.
