TIL: The so-called "South Pole Station" is at 9300 feet, which I never would have guessed. Though the side effects ascribed to it seemed a bit extreme (routine bloody nose during sleep?).
Also thought it was amusing that there's a gym and sauna installed but one is only allowed a 2 minute shower per week.
- chrismeller 3y agoThe bloody nose seems more related to the extreme dry weather than altitude to me. Surrounded by frozen water and still only able to spend 2 minutes per week in the shower is still amazing.
