I recently read a layperson's history of entropy, "Einstein's Fridge". A recurring theme is that discoveries in that field take many years to be accepted. Boltzmann, for example, was just ignored for many years. But they're some of the most productive insights in all of physics. My own evidence for the simulation theory is the huge advance in our game technology in my lifetime. Whether or not we're living in a simulation, at this rate we'll be able to build a convincing one in another life span.
