So much this. Animus towards Airbnb is simply envy.
It is not possible to profitably run one while trashing a neighborhood.
People will spend twenty minutes reacting emotionally to this, never pay much attention to empirical changes in response, and never realize it was just fomo on their part.
- subpixel 3y agoAmericans have this disease where they think the loopholes that serve their economic betters will benefit them one day - the delusion is so strong they will support policy that works against their own interests.

Sarcasm aside, I'm pretty sure that, "YoU'rE jUsT jEaLoUs," and not providing any other kind of counterargument for those opposed to Airbnb is a great example of "reacting emotionally".
