Lead wrapping thick enough to sufficiently protect against radiation damage is very, very heavy. Beyond LEO, excessive weight is still ridiculously expensive.

- anigbrowl 3y agoMy point being that it's the hardening that's expensive, not the storage itself. I don't think you need that much lead to shield increasingly tiny storage media.
