I find it curious that the climate change issue gets far more attention than the ever increasing, far more lethal and imminently threatening epidemics of chronic disease
- mrkeen 3y agoThe key difference is: if you are concerned about your heart, you can diet and exercise better - today. Epidemiolists can and should study heart disease as a public health issue, but as a individual health issue, the solution has been discovered and is available to almost everyone.

Our actions are leading to deforestation of rainforests, the depletion of wildlife, and a decline in biodiversity, all for the sake of our burgers. > I find it curious that the climate change issue gets far more attention than the ever increasing, far more lethal and imminently threatening epidemics of chronic disease Climate change is just a single symptom of the overshoot of the carrying capacity of the environment. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ecological_overshoot https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ecological_overshoot https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carrying_capacity https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carrying_capacity Animal agriculture is a primary driver of deforestation and biodiversity loss. Additionally, it contributes to chronic diseases such as cardiovascular disease (CVD) and diabetes. Climate change and overshoot are far more lethal than CVD. They have the potential to eradicate over 75+% of all animal species, and with the helpful assistance of a nuclear state power, might even threaten our own existence. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Holocene_extinction https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Holocene_extinction
