It's sad that the article offers no hope; some people will read it and come away very sad. I would like to say that there is hope. I come from Hell, which is also called utter neglect. Intensive CBT 30 years ago did not help me, but I did find an answer. I was lucky enough to find someone who needed help herself, and I decided to see if giving care to someone else would help me, in some kind of reflexive way. I looked after the lady for several years, until she passed away. I come from Hell, but I'm well on my way somewhere much better.
