Twitter, now X, to remove blocking feature
- klntsky 3y agoBlocking is useless if your profile is not private.
- 3cats-in-a-coat 3y agoThe useful part of blocking isn’t reading someone’s content, but being unable to directly react in a discoverable way to it via reply and quote.
- RelativeDelta 3y agoI suspect this is what Musk will undo. Blocking will become a way to filter out responses you don't like, but others who follow you will still see comments and reactions if they also do not already have a user blocked.
- strangecasts 3y agoAt the time of writing, Twitter does not allow viewing profiles unless logged in
- thrdbndndn 3y agoI can. It only shows the account "top" tweets instead of newest, but I can.
- strangecasts 3y agoHuh! I tested it in a Windows Sandbox yesterday and got kicked to the login prompt immediately, but testing it today shows the "top" tweets - weird
- tansan 3y agoIt's really easy to get around the block, so I would have to agree that it is not that useful of a feature.
- sureglymop 3y agoIs that really their priority though? The platform seems to be just a sandbox for one guy at this point. I guess if one is into that...
- tibbydudeza 3y agoSome have a fetish for online abuse at this point - giving and receiving it by arguing online as a sort of validation of their world views.

- appplication 3y agoI respect your opinion and personal experience because it’s certainly unique, but I don’t there is consensus that modern twitter/x is doing well lately. If anything, the general mood I pick up seems to be that it’s flailing unpredictably. I say this as someone who had never used twitter, purely based on what I hear from people in non-twitter spaces, talking about twitter. It is possible I am subject to sampling bias: digital refugees from old twitter are more likely to be on non-twitter social networks and be generally discontent about the new direction of the platform they’ve eschewed.
