And even who can buy what property. He takes the mantle of conservatism, but his values aren't conservative at all, and more outlets need to point that out. What he is, definitionally, is an authoritarian.
- dragonwriter 3y agoConservatives have always been pro-elite authoritarians since the term was introduced as a political label. Its a weird effect of branding done to bring Right-Libertarians into the Republican fold that over the last few decades people have started getting accused of not being “real conservatives” for not adhering to libertarian views, but that’s the most authentically conservative thing in the world.
- s1artibartfast 3y agoI don't know that that's exactly accurate. Traditional Republicans have a long history of small government rhetoric that appeals to right - Libertarians. The degree to which that they have backed up those views is obviously debatable
