- CarVac 3y agoEvery screw in the Framework 13 is T5 Torx, and they include a Torx screwdriver in the box. Presumably they're not changing that aspect.
- mdhen 3y agoTorx screws are better then pH or flat, lot less likely to get stripped.
- nrp 3y agoYep, this is right. Tiny Phillips head fasteners tend to strip when camming out, making them not especially durable. Hexalobular ones don't cam out and are harder to strip, making them better for applications where they'll be cycled multiple times. We include a screwdriver in the box with every laptop to make sure people don't have to go searching for a T5 screwdriver.
- howinteresting 3y agoTorx screws are easier to work with than Philips screws. Anyone serious about opening up their electronics has T5 bits at home. I have a cheap Chinese set of bits bought 20 years ago, and it includes T5.
