  > Bellingcat's main handle did not appear in several searches made by Insider on Twitter Friday. Meh, this has been going on for years and doesn't mean much. Many accounts get shadowbanned and then unbanned a week later later with no explanation.     Sure, but these oddities put a whole new twist to the arguments that social media algorithms primarily optimize "engagement".

  After fostering an active relationship with federal and intelligence agencies, I highly doubt Twitter, even post buyout, would slight a ""citizen"" journalism outlet funded by them.
