You might enjoy the [Aharonov-Bohm effect](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aharonov%E2%80%93Bohm_effect https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aharonov%E2%80%93Bohm_effect). Quantum mechanics says we can in fact detect `A`. A similar effect exists for `phi`.
