How Can I Future-Proof My Career As A Software Engineer
- liopun 3y agoIt's not secret that ChatGPT has passed a coding interview that's DSA related. What's going to happen to our careers as new software development tools that are AI powered are emerging everyday?
- kadoban 3y agoOurs careers will change. Nobody is eliminating software engineers for quite a while yet though. The _vast_ majority of the job is not writing code, it's communicating with other people and figuring out what in the hell the code should actually do.
- deafpolygon 3y agoPrecisely this. AI cannot do this at this point... I don't think it's very close to being able to do this. We're decades away from AI being able to reason about people's requirements and translating that to advanced implementations.
- doktorhladnjak 3y agoThis just shows how worthless interviews doing these kinds of code tests are
- liopun 3y agoThere must be skills from current developers that will still be relevant if AI can code better than us
- luckman212 3y agoHow are you coal-shoveling skills?
- jschveibinz 3y agoEmphasize the “engineer” part, and you should be just fine.
- euroderf 3y agoMaybe learn to write coherent, precisely-expressed, internally-consistent requirements ?
