Highway inevitability is a fallacy. They could've built a railway.
- koheripbal 3y agoA railway would have created a gov't/corporate monopoly on human transport. Highways democratized the freedom of transportation.

- megablast 3y ago> Highways democratized the freedom of transportation. What a ridiculous idea. Highways restrict movement to those with a license, a car, and do not care about pollution or anyone around them.
- parineum 3y agoIn no way did highways restrict movement. They may have not given everyone the exact same freedom of movement but it did, in fact, increase the freedom of movement of the populaces as a whole.
- inigoalonso 3y agoMy experience in the States, staying at a hotel 100m away from a restaurant and not being able to reach it by foot, says otherwise...
