There might be something interesting that they could do with defining a hashtag whitelist or a set of filter criteria for a circled contact. Someone mentioned languages, too - what if autodetected language could be one of the filter criteria? I have a Russian friend who sends out a 50/50 mix of English and Russian. I would rather not see the Russian in my stream, partially because Google Translate usually doesn't do a great job, and also because I miss out on all the inside cultural references.
