Ask HN: Web3 Shutterstock Alternative
Hi there,
When I travel I film a lot of drone videos. I decided that probably someone is interested in these video footages.
There are Shutterstock, Getty, Pond5. But is there a web3 alternative? I can mint an NFT for each video, but it cost a lot of money so it doesn't make sense to do that. Probably it makes sense to mint an NFT on demand when there is a customer that want's to buy a video. Other challenge is a storage. There is still no a good decentralized cheap storage. IPFS still requires a host.
Have you seen such marketplace that doesn't require a creator to pay in advance but be able to sell their content in a better price?

- denis4inet 4y agoHow much it will cost for me as for the end user to upload and store a one 100MB video using this storage? Looks like 50 video will be for free, then I need a subscription.
- latchkey 4y agoThis is the pricing page: https://web3.storage/pricing/ https://web3.storage/pricing/ 5gb free.
- sp332 4y agoHow are you going to handle copyright licensing?
- denis4inet 4y agoNot a lawyer at all) I guess in the same way as NFT?
- sp332 4y agoYeah that's um... not good. https://interestingengineering.com/culture/an-nft-group-bought-a-copy-of-dune-for-304-million-thinking-its-the-copyright https://interestingengineering.com/culture/an-nft-group-boug... https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/technology/bored-ape-yacht-club-says-that-it-doesn-t-own-formal-copyright-for-its-nft-collection/ar-AA16rQwZ https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/technology/bored-ape-yacht-cl... https://gizmodo.com/nft-crypto-metabirkin-trademark-hermes-1850089765 https://gizmodo.com/nft-crypto-metabirkin-trademark-hermes-1... - denis4inet 4y agoInteresting. I think there is a legal way to create a legal contract that will the following: ownership/copyright is managed this NFT.
