Some of this advice could be rather damaging to someone.
How about this?
Try to eat healthier than you currently eat. More whole foods, prepared at home, and less processed food and sugar. Keep in mind that you are a human with limits and you don't have to be perfect to achieve your goals, so it is okay to treat yourself from time to time.
Exercise, both cardio and weight lifting are good for you, but the best exercise is the exercise you'll actually do, so start with that. Any activity which raises your heart rate and doesn't feel like a chore is a great start. You can add to that base in the future.
Make these changes in your lifestyle for yourself, not your partner, or theoretical partner. Partners come and go, but you'll have to live with yourself for the rest of your life. Long-term, doing things for yourself yields a better, more consistent result.
Even the smallest of changes compound over time and can yield impressive results.
Overall, be kind to yourself, and don't listen to advice from people who think your motivation should come from shame or a feeling of inadequacy.
