At least in the US, I just don't think this will ever work. It is ultimately only in the interest of the central bank. There are really no other participants that will be clamoring for this. I am pushing 50 and I just can't imagine I live to see the day I can't get cash from the bank when we still have absolutely worthless pennies in circulation. This is such a fundamental change to money and banking I just don't see it being widely adopted.
