- Octabrain 4y agoha! I just remembered a anecdote of a friend, many years ago, telling me that he suspected that his internet was not working properly because perhaps the ethernet cable to his computer was to tight in a part of the installation. I remember I teased him by saying: Ah, sure, in fact, if you press well enough the cable the kilobytes are gonna start accumulating and the cable will might eventually explode! (like a hose)
- elzbardico 4y agoI have both consoles from this generation and I wish the PS5 went the same design route as my Xbox series X.
- kmlx 4y agofor me the series x is the ugliest console in decades. the button placement, the connections placement, the weird dimensions, the colors. it looks like it has no taste, no finesse, truly a microsoft product. for this reason it stays out of sight. and then you boot it up and realise that the same lack of taste is evident in the os as well. the ps5 on the other hand is just too big and heavy, otherwise it looks interesting, might not be at the same level of design finesse as the ps4. but to me it looks a bit more like a next gen console, more polished than the series x and this definitely holds true when you boot it up. and practicality wise i can open up the ps5 to clean, which is a major advantage. unfortunately it’s definitely a showcase device, and lots of folk don’t have the space for these kinds of devices. they do have space for boxy devices thou.
- Macha 4y agoAs someone who had to rule out several tv units for their ability to fit a series X, I wish Microsoft had went for a more traditional aspect ratio

- emodendroket 4y agoWell, there's insufficient data to extrapolate numbers, isn't there? We have the owner of a repair shop reporting that he sees this issue frequently. It has to be common enough for him to see it, but nobody whose PlayStation works fine is coming to the repair shop.
- steponlego 4y agoPS1, ironically could be fixed with this trick.
- Macha 4y agoWasn't the trick to completely flip the ps1? I'd assumed the cause was issues with the cd drive alignment and the fix was to let gravity help
- steponlego 4y agoOptimal angle once it started skipping was clockwise about 100 degrees, 90 would eventually rub too. My old PS1 still works at that particular angle.

- steponlego 4y agoI think by "liquid metal" they mean low-temp solder.
- robinduckett 4y agoNope, they use a liquid at room temperature metal alloy instead of thermal compound as it’s supposed to work better.
- bravetraveler 4y agoYea, imagine flowing mercury - it's a bit like that. Typically made of tin, gallium, and indium (and probably some proprietary-fu) Supposedly better thermal conductivity; downside is... that applies electrically too It sounds like Sony (or Foxconn/whoever) is putting too much on there. A surprisingly low amount will last/suffice
