Ask HN: How can I sell my app?
I’ve built a pretty polished cross platform desktop app as a side project. It it small (has a few hundred users) and is new. Since I want to focus on other projects and schoolwork, is there anywhere I can go to sell this? Or find partners to handle growth while I focus on tech?
If it helps, the app in question is at https://parallelsocial.net. Thank you for your help & advice!
- primitivesuave 4y agoI can personally relate to your situation from a decade ago when I was in university. A decade of entrepreneurship, a few ups and many downs later, I'd say that generally any serious participant is looking to buy a business, not just the technology. Maybe find someone at your university to work with on that aspect? In any case you have an excellent resume item - showing an idea that you've taken to completion is a meaningful signal to employers, investors, and a generally useful mentality to have in this industry.
- pull_my_finger 4y agoI have 0 experience with this space, but I've seen microacquire come up here on HN a few times. Maybe other users that actually used it or competitors could provide more insight, but there is at least 1 option for this. [1]: https://microacquire.com/ https://microacquire.com/
- barbarbar 4y agoI think the sum of apps on play and app store shows that it is not super easy to sell apps. Probably even more difficult for desktop apps.
- quickthrower2 4y agoI have recently put together a list places to buy an app, mostly sourced from [1] https://microacquire.com/ https://flippa.com https://www.motioninvest.com/ https://investors.club https://indiemaker.co https://feinternational.com/sell-your-website/ https://empireflippers.com/ https://exchangemarketplace.com/ https://helloexit.com/ https://www.microacquisitions.com/ https://www.bizbuysell.com/ https://www.sideprojectors.com/ https://onfolio.co/ https://zeroacquire.com https://arraycapital.com Microns.io Duuce.com https://www.facebook.com/groups/flippingwebsites/ northboundgroup.com websiteclosers.com https://nanoacquire.vercel.app/ https://www.bitsfordigits.com/ https://acquirebase.com/ As a buyer, most of these are not so good, and I am only using microacquire. (reasons: too few listings / all listings are just Amazon affiliates / buggy / no one replying). Not sure on the seller side, but I think microaquire + indiemaker + sideprojectors would be a good combination of places to list. Put a big wide hero style screenshot on the home page.
