Ask HN: Good options for rural mobile internet
For what I can only describe as 'old man reasons' my dad will no longer accept being a customer of the broadband internet provider in his rural area. I am trying to find a suitable alternative for him such as a 4g hotspot device, preferably that can run on the AT&T network. Does anyone have any good experience with any particular devices?
- iorrus 4y agoMofi seemed to be good the last time I looked into this (https://mofinetwork.com/ https://mofinetwork.com/) Have a look at Reddit too (https://www.reddit.com/r/Rural_Internet/ https://www.reddit.com/r/Rural_Internet/) also this site: https://www.rvmobileinternet.com/ https://www.rvmobileinternet.com/
- starlight_nomad 4y agoThanks, I'll take a look at those.
- schemescape 4y agoNot rural, by I had a Verizon Home LTE device (4G) for a while and it worked surprisingly well (except when the microwave was running). I got it directly through Verizon.
- starlight_nomad 4y agoI'll have a look and see if AT&T has a good offering in that space. Similar old man reasons means he also doesn't want to use Verizon.
