As the creator of intellectual property, my first priority is putting food on the table. The macro-economic benefit of trading my intellectual property is irrelevant to me.

  Indeed, these OSS / free content advocates come off to me as people staing the obvious. So, you doing work and making it available for free to the community will result in greater riches in the community, than, now hold your breath, doing the work and charging the community for it. Wow, who would have thought of that?
