I had my first and only BillG review a few years ago. It was about a technology that I and everyone else _assumed_ that Bill had a lot of familiarity with. It is a technology that I'm sure is being used at his foundation. It is a technology that other CVPs at the company had presented to Bill in the past. And during the review, it was pretty clear that at least at that moment, this was the first time that he thought he had seen this technology. This taught me an important lesson. Our leaders, despite the legendary status that is sometimes bestowed upon them, are human. And fallable. They selectively remember things, and if you want them to remember certain things you'll need to tell them over and over and over again.
