I do have to say I like the approach of them opening up a drag strip for people to try racing like things safely on. I think more cities should do things like this and essentially have public race courses. The courses that currently exist are very expensive and can be hard to get access to. Many cities actually already have these for use by their police so all that they would have to do is open them up to the public.
