Just out of curiosity, are there metrics which an individual software developer can use to measure the productivity and effectiveness of an organization? Because I have seen that there are very large differences, which also can have a huge impact on individual productivity.

    People have been inventing these software/developer metrics for 50+ years, and to this day none of them have panned out.

  I thought that this was going to be a talk about the software industry regularly shipping products with bug/failure rates that would result in arrest warrants for any other type of engineering profession. Instead this just seems to be pushing something like ISO 9000, software edition
