That seems excessive if you're expected to be able to log into your work system within X minutes.
Having to be essentially home, near a computer, 25% of the time (1 week out of 4) is a pretty heavy burden, especially for people who prefer to be out, rather than home.
- SpicyLemonZest 4y agoIt's a heavy burden, and a lot of teams might want to consider a longer interval, but there's a lot of legitimate scenarios where it's just not feasible to distribute an oncall rotation among 8+ people. I would definitely point more towards 1 in 6 as the ideal minimum.
