after many failed attempts trying to use Hugo, i finally gave in and am getting started with Jekyll. so far, i've been impressed with the things it offers that i didn't even know were possible, like Liquid and built-in pagination, etc. however, being used to GitHub's very limiting flavor, i was blown away by kramdown! having the ability to use HTML and CSS formatting in .md files is a game changer. so, i guess put me down for team Jekyll :)
