You don't need to "understand" why someone would use Android anymore than I need to understand why someone uses iOS. But if it helps you sleep at night, I simply dislike iOS. I dislike the UI. I dislike the keyboard. I dislike the interface (non-UI stuff). I enjoy using android much more.
