Buy a GSM breakout board from sparkfun, servo to switch the sd to be read, transmit the data.

  And how do you get the sd card out of the Canon Camera? Robot arm with rpi? Hacker culture is great but bespoke hardware is better.

    That's what the switch is for, like a Y-splitter. My comment is mostly a joke eg. sparkfun (sanctions).
