Is technology like the webb telescope design , or curiosity design open and public ? I mean eg CAD , components used , other details ?
- mshockwave 5y agoI think they keep these from public bc lots of defense contractors are actually involved in this project, too. And it's basically impossible to ask them to release those resources.

Individual elements of the design might be explained in some articles, and there are some overview articles like e.g. https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s11214-012-9892-2 https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s11214-012-9892-2 but the actual engineering resources are usually not available to public
