Early in the pandemic forewarnings were raised about the risks associated with school shutdowns. Drowned out by a cacophony of other opinions, the warnings went unheeded in the US. Sweden was an outlier in keeping schools open, premised upon the rationale that social and mental wellbeing outweighed the risk covid posed to students[0].
