Not related to semiconductors but I've recently bought a ring with a lab made silicon carbide moissanite crystal.
They're incredibly beautiful and I think a good alternative to diamonds:

- thomasmg 5y agoI bought one for my wife's wedding ring as well. The local jeweller (who made the rings) tested it with his diamond tester device -- and the led light said 'diamond'. He was a bit surprised :-)
- trulyme 5y agoWikipedia agrees... :) > As some of its properties are quite similar to diamond, moissanite can be used for scams. Testing equipment based on measuring thermal conductivity in particular may give deceiving results.
