I'd really like some kind of architecture picture describing what runs where. Regardless of whether it's promoting the cloud service why would I want that to run a rPi service? A picture might explain that.

Looks like that repo just containerises RpiPlay[1], which is the real meat and potatoes. As for architecture: RpiPlay is just an open source Airplay server. Plug a display in, and point your iPhone at it. [1]https://github.com/FD-/RPiPlay https://github.com/FD-/RPiPlay
