People join the military out of patriotism. 54.3% of under 18s in Belgium have a migrant background and any sense of national pride in the native population is maligned to accommodate them. The Belgians I talk to want to leave. They don't recognise their neighbourhoods any more. Belgium and many countries in western Europe are going to struggle attracting recruits in the years ahead.
