I use a similar launcher: https://f-droid.org/en/packages/fr.neamar.kiss/ https://f-droid.org/en/packages/fr.neamar.kiss/ I have a lot of the features tweaked or disabled. The way it is configured, it basically acts as a static list of a few apps I use most, with a search bar to access anything else. I find this setup to be more straightforward than the normal icons+folders type of launcher. I have handed my phone to other people who have never used it, and they have no problem finding things because you can just search.
