The Fandom site layouts recently got a lot worse and harder to use. For example, search used to be an easily accessible text field - simple and quick to use. Now they all have that ugly Fandom bar on the left, with a search icon that opens a search modal overlay, which injects advertisements into your search results. Not good. I've been using the Escape from Tarkov wiki a lot (can't really play without it), and the Fandom wiki UI changes are not in the right direction.

Completely agree. I use the No Man's Sky fandom site as it is very comprehensive (and the No Man's Sky iOS app "Assistant for No Man's Sky" is just a ported Android app, complete with Android interface, which really grates against iOS IMO) and the Fandom site is terrible with search. So many times I try to tap the top result and I inadvertedly open up eBay instead. The irony that there is an Aesthetics wiki on the current iteration of Fandom is not lost on me.

        And us iOS users all know how well that works in this ecosystem. Android ported apps might be easy to deploy and maintain, but they're in the most part trash to use in iOS.

I don’t remember a time when it was good. Their strategy was always about scraping user content from other websites (game guides, etc.) and leveraging SEO hacks to siphon off traffic and show as many ads as possible. Rebranding from Wikia to “Fandom” is itself an example of such a hack.
