I don't think a _bigger_ legislature is going to help annything?
- scythe 5y agoIt might hopefully reduce the barrier to entry into state politics; therefore, it might increase voter attention to state politics. A major limitation of the US political system is that a lot of voters today ignore state politics and only focus on national politics. Measures that increase the chance politicians are meaningfully connected to their local community can be one way to improve that. Also, it increases the cost of buying off legislators, although this part has limits. According to the cube root rule, the natural size of California's House of Representatives is about 340!
