- dang 5y agoBy "arson" I mean setting threads on fire, which is an apt metaphor - the same metaphor, of course, as in the word "flamewar". Please remember that the rules don't stop applying when someone else behaves badly. Although I haven't asked the other user about it, I'm certain they would see you as "this troll" and themselves as the one who ought not to be "lumped in". It always feels like the other person started it and did worse. That's obviously a recipe for a downward spiral. The only solution is to do better, even when provoked.
- lolthishuman 5y agoI appreciate the effort to point out how to do better. I will actually take the feedback positively due to you saying “do better, even when provoked.” For whatever reason, that hit close to home to a principle I’ve been striving for. The tone you gave me initially in the arson post definitely rubbed me the wrong way initially; it felt critical without a positive path and just made me want to rebel. So, thank you, and maybe my feedback is worth a cent. If not no worries. Thanks.
