Not sure about the jab at Microsoft, C# is just an implementation of an ECMA standard (http://www.ecma-international.org/publications/standards/Ecma-334.htm http://www.ecma-international.org/publications/standards/Ecm...) and as if Java isn't unduly influenced by The Red Menace these days.
Perl is spot on though :)
