Why not simply ask Mojang

  It's almost certain several people did, but either didn't get a response, or - infinitely more likely - that the seed used for the icon was simply never recorded. Found the timeline. Yes several people asked, and no, Mojang did not have any records.

  They didn’t know apparently, the photo was taken years ago with a random seed just for the purpose of using it in the menu IIRC.
