Only 1 woman speaker out of 15 isn't an amazing look for a conference in 2020
- uduebex 6y agoIf I cared about tokens I'd go to ChuckECheese. Are there any specific male speakers you feel don't deserve to be there?

- jonathan_re 6y agoWhat do you think is the gender ratio in such a high-tech area of IT security? 7% is probably not far from reality...
- _rsfc 6y agoYeah, I think so too. I'm sure the conference will be great and the speakers all excellent. The not-a-good-look part is whether or not that 7% is helped or hindered by this kind of line-up and whether or not it should be. I certainly wouldn't have expected close to a 50/50 gender split, but 1 / 15 is pretty low. It's fine to disagree, finding and approaching good speakers is hard, especially during a pandemic I imagine. But then again the organizer Code Intelligence has 'driven by our passion for challenging the status quo' as one of their company values, so I think it's fair enough to point out?
- rurban 6y agoAgreed, the single quota speaker certainly looks suspicious. I certainly don't need to listen to quota pep talk in a technical conference.
