      Like many other things, it depends on some combination of which hotel you're staying in and where you are in the world. There are plenty of places that would be suffocating if you couldn't open a window. That said, if this were my mattress theft scheme I'd probably prefer to source a suite that had a usable balcony rather than worry about the windows.
