Agreed. And so did the authors of Tcl. They moved away from string representations years ago, but old articles on the previous releases keep being recycled.

- xeeeeeeeeeeenu 7y agoWhat Tcl runtime does internally is irrelevant, on the language level everything is still a string[1] [1] - Apart from arrays, which are probably the biggest wart in the language. Fortunately, Tcl 8.5 introduced dicts which fulfil the same role as arrays, but as opposed to them, they are strings.
