The lens you view yourself with is totally unrelated to the lens with which the rest of the world sees you; you'll drive yourself insane if you think you and the world interpret you the same.
What was the lesson you learned specifically from this?
- alexbanks 7y agoI would describe myself as destructively critical of myself. My body, my work performance, the things I say, the way I say them, pretty much everything. So, as an example, if you misspoke while talking to someone, the lesson was "Don't spend two days destroying yourself about one minor slip up, for certain nobody noticed and if they did they didn't really care." You're aware of your flaws because they're a part of you, but that doesn't mean that anyone else notices them.
