I'm still not sure how the whole process of choosing lenses seems to work quite well, despite being so far removed from actual day to day usage. In the ~37 years I have glasses the process only failed twice. The last time I needed to order new glasses, after wearing the glasses for a day (I know from experience that it sometimes takes time to adjust to new glasses), I returned to the store and told them that the glasses weren't good enough. To make a long story short, after going back there at least three times, and after the optometrist said something along the lines of "maybe you only think you are not seeing well with those glasses", I had to start making a ruckus till they changed both lenses. Maybe the failure rate is low enough that it is not worth it to improve the process...
