It seems hard to put the burden on users never to lose their login password though — they lose all their data when they do. Have you looked at the Tanker SDK? It’s an open-source, cross-platform SDK for end-to-end encryption (with a zero-knowledge key distribution service), that’s very user friendly when it comes to recovery.
